Ephesus Tours

Celsus Library in Ephesus

Visiting Ephesus, which was one of the most important city in the ancient world, is a highlight of any visit to Turkey. This magnificent city was dedicated to the Goddess Artemis. Her monumental Temple is considered one of the Seven Word Wonders of the Ancient World. It was destroyed by earthquakes many times and rebuilt. It was the biggest Temple that was built in Ancient Greek time. There were 127 erected columns, each 20 meters high.

Today's Ephesus is called Selcuk which is 1km away from the ruins of Ephesus. The Byzantium Castle is dominating the town and nearby is the Basilica of St. John and Tomb of St. John. Close by to Basilica St. John there is an historical Mosque built in the 14th century. This huge mosque is a typical Seljukian architecture. In the centre of the town there is Ephesus Archeological Museum. It offers to see an impressive collection of statues and findings recovered in the excavations at Ephesus for the visitors.

According to some Christian belief after the death of Jesus Christ, St. John brought Virgin Mary to Ephesus where she spend her last days on the Koressos Mountain. This sacred place received an official sanction of the Vatican. It is visited by Popes regularly and an important destination for Roman Catholics for their pilgrimage in Turkey.

Sirince is located in 8 km east of Selcuk. It is famous with its traditional historical village houses, sand some of them renewed as guest-houses. There are also famous homemade vine yards which offer lovely taste foe the visitor.

There is Seven Sleepers Cave nearby Selcuk. It is a very famous legend in Christianity and Muslim.
There is a possibility to view all of these places in a daily Ephesus Tour. You will explore Ephesus with these private Ephesus Tours. These Ephesus tours are organized for cruisers from Izmir Port or Kusadasi Port. Izmir to Ephesus Kusadasi To Ephesus
